Administrative Divisions:

1. Districts: Punjab is divided into 22 districts, each headed by a District Collector or Deputy Commissioner. Some of the prominent districts include Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, and Bathinda.


2. Tehsils: Each district is further divided into tehsils or subdivisions, which are headed by a Tehsildar. Tehsils consist of several villages and are responsible for local administration.


3. Municipal Corporations and Municipalities: Punjab has various municipal corporations and municipalities that are responsible for the administration of urban areas. These include cities like Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Patiala.


Government:

1. Legislative Assembly: Punjab has a unicameral Legislative Assembly, also known as the Vidhan Sabha. It consists of elected representatives known as Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs). The Chief Minister is the head of the government in Punjab.


2. Governor: The state of Punjab has a Governor who represents the President of India at the state level. The Governor is appointed by the President and performs ceremonial and constitutional duties.


Economy:

1. Agriculture: Punjab is known as the "Granary of India" due to its significant contribution to India's agricultural production. The state is famous for its fertile soil, canal irrigation, and high-yielding crop varieties. The primary crops cultivated include wheat, rice, maize, cotton, and sugarcane.


2. Industries: Punjab has a diverse industrial sector, including manufacturing, textiles, agro-processing, engineering, pharmaceuticals, and information technology. Ludhiana is a major industrial hub known for its textiles, while Amritsar is famous for the textile and garment industry.


3. Services: The services sector also plays a crucial role in Punjab's economy. It includes tourism, hospitality, banking, finance, education, healthcare, and transportation.


4. Infrastructure: Punjab has a well-developed infrastructure with a network of roads, railways, airports, and inland waterways. The state is connected to major cities in India through a well-maintained road and rail network.
